Bioware released some more free DLC for Mass Effect 2 today, this time in the form of a new weapon for the game.

The Arc Projector ionizes targets with a non-visible laser to ready them for a high-voltage electrical attack. As the lightning-like bolt hits its first target, a sophisticated auto-targeting system paints succeeding targets with the ionization laser, allowing the electricity to take the path of least resistance and arc between them. An entire enemy strike team can be shocked to death with a few pulls of the trigger. Careful aiming will also allow the user to arc shots to nearby explosives as well.

You can get the new DLC through the Cerberus Network, which is located on the games main menu.

If one weapon isn’t enough for you then you’ll be able to download the ‘Firewalker Pack’ later this month, which includes five new missions and a tank.

There’s also some props, such as the light sabre, which are guaranteed to up your nerd cred.

Come to think of it the timing of these is probably due to the release of the Hoth DLC pack for SW:TFU, which is available now for 800 MS points.

Yesterday we mentioned that the new Borderlands DLC, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, would be out on Xbox Live today. Unfortunately this is no longer the case, with the release date instead being moved to tomorrow.

No reason has been given, but AceyBongos announced the move on his Twitter.

So looks like the new Borderlands DLC will be hitting tomorrow after all – keep an eye on the man himself over at @GeneralKnoXX – @AceyBongos

General Knoxx himself also had this to say:

Well, time tables got all moved around. Looks like the invasion is on tomorrow. Be seeing you (and killing you!) then. – @GeneralKnoXX

24 hours is no big deal, and you can look forward to some mid-week Borderlands fun sometime tomorrow. The PC and PSN releases are still set for Thursday.

2K has announced that Bioshock 2 will get its first piece of DLC next month. The “Sinclair Solutions Test Pack” will be multiplayer focused, extending the level cap to level 50 with more rank rewards thrown in.

Two new playable characters, Louie McGraff and Oscar Calraca, will be lining up to get shot in the face whilst concurrently being set on fire. Plus, there will also be 20 new trials, a third weapon upgrade for each weapon and five additional masks.

The DLC will go for 400 MS points on Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live, and £3.19 on PSN. No exact release date has been given, but we’re sure it won’t be long before one is.

If you’d rather have more single-player content then 2K assures you that some will be on the day. This will include “more narrative, new tools and new challenges that extend the lore and fiction of the failed Utopia under the sea.”

Check out three screenshots from the upcoming DLC in our gallery below.

Microsoft has reiterated that that the first piece of Modern Warfare 2 DLC will come to Xbox 360 first.

The earlier rumour was confirmed at X10, the resurrected Xbox expo, with the news that the 360 will have a 30 day head start over all other systems. The rumour that the release date will be 1 March has not been confirmed, with Activision delivering a “no comment” on that.

The worrying thing is that there’s another rumour that says the DLC will only include two maps, which is pretty poor if you ask me. This exclusivity trend is also worrying, as a lot of gamers are going to miss out on new content for a whole month (although it’s not as bad as the GTA IV DLC 360 timed exclusives that have only just been announced for PS3).

So it’s pretty much rumour central here right now, but we’ll be posting more solid info as it comes in.

We may have already known that Bioware was planning more content for Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 (and, of course, we already have some, but it’s always nice to hear it repeated just so they don’t forget.

“We like to support our games long-term,” BioWare founder Muzyka told IGN.“Our fans are really important to us, and we try and support them. We have long-term plans for both Dragon Age and Mass Effect.”

Just how long is long-term though?

“We have a separate team running in parallel as part of the franchise team,” he added. “You know, people are moving back and forth, but we’ve made a dedicated investment in DLC for Dragon Age and Mass Effect, so we’re going to support them for a long time.”

“Stand alone products, expansion packs, things like that as well.”

So, if you love Dragon Age and Mass Effect (just like I do) we’re going to get even more content to try and satisfy our appetite for these epic universes.

Check out the rest of the interview here, which concentrates on the future of Mass Effect and other Bioware franchises.
