If you happen to be a Halo fan – and I’m sure there are some of you out there – then you may be pleased to hear that the complete Halo Legends set will be available here in Europe on 16 February. It will be released in a DVD standard edition, a two-disc special edition and blu-ray.

If you’re not sure what Halo Legends is then why not let me enlighten you? Halo Legends is a collection of seven short animated stories that relate to the Halo Universe, exploring its history and legends. Each episode is around 10-15 minutes long, each with different directors and unique approaches. The standard DVD will contain all these episodes, but there’s more in store for those willing to pay extra.

The two-disc special edition, alongside the episodes, includes the following content:

• The Making of Halo Legends
• Halo: Gaming Evolved – Explaining the Halo “phenomenon”
• An audio commentary with directors Frank O’Connor and Joseph Chou

The Blu-ray edition has the same content, but also includes a feature called Halo: The Story so Far plus, of course, high definition visuals.

Amazon currently has the regular DVD for £7.98, while the special edition will set you back £9.98. The Blu-ray edition is obviously more expensive and will cost you £15.98.

The latest release in the Halo franchise has sold over 2.5 million copies, according to USA Today. That brings the total number of Halo game sales to over 27 million.

And 26,999,999 of them have called me a “noob” online.

Halo Waypoint, the soon to-be-released new section of Xbox Live, will launch on November 5th.

It will be dedicated to everything Halo, including tracking all statistics and rankings relating to Halo (including ODST), as well as new videos, screenshots and even podcasts.

It’s also the first place you’ll see the new Halo Legends anime movies, which are also scheduled to arrive in the coming months.
Halo 3: ODST arrives shortly before Halo Waypoint on 22nd September, and looks to be as essential as any component of the staggering Halo universe.

Bungie’s community lead Brian Jarrard has hinted that Firefight, the new co-operative gameplay mode in Halo 3: ODST, could be used in future games. Speaking to representatives from gaming site Eurogamer, he said:

“I can’t talk too much about Reach specifics, but hopefully the game mode’s going to be received as well we think it will be, and people are going to enjoy it. I don’t think we’ve ever been known to really take things away from each successive release, so I think it’s safe to say that if Firefight gets a lot of traction and people love it, it probably has a good future home in our next title as well.”

He did however confirm that it would not be added to Halo competitive multiplayer.

Kirkland Police search Bungie Studios/American actor Nathan Fillion tries out a replica Sniper Rifle

Anyone who had their eyes glued to Bungie webcams on Wednesday were given the treat of witnessing Kirkland (USA) Police Department giving a bit of an earful to some Bungie employees.

In the latest Bungie Weekly Update, it was mentioned that when a Bungie employee decided to go for a stroll down a nearby road wielding an SRS99D-S2 AM replica (the Sniper Rifle from Halo 3 for those of you who aren’t obsessive Halo nuts) a local resident alerted the authorities claiming that there was an armed lunatic roaming the streets.

KPD then proceeded to swarm the nearby streets searching nearby buildings trying to locate this armed madman. When they arrived at Bungie Studios, it is safe to say that they were not too pleased with the famous Halo developers.

A bit of a blunder for those Bungie employees who probably didn’t realise that not everybody can distinguish between a real rifle and one from a popular first-person shooter…

Can you imagine the audacity of this NYC gamer who decided it would be a great idea to setup an Xbox 360 in a public library to play Halo 3, Call of Duty and Quake.  Now I don’t know how he thought he could conceal his activities by placing a copy of the New York Times over his hands and control pad, when his screen was in full view of everyone, not to mention the Turtle Beach headset he was using to bark orders at his Internet Buddies.  It took him around 20 minutes to set the box up and apparently 2 min to get kicked out.  Now if only this guy killed himself while doing this he would probably win a Darwin Award instead he got himself a ban from the Library.
