FIFA 10 has been widely regarded as one of best football games of all time

FIFA 10 has been widely regarded as one of best football games of all time

The boss of EA for Europe,  Jens Uwe Intat today claimed that FIFA 10 was the far superior football (soccer) game in Europe last year.

He claimed that FIFA “beat the heck out of Pro Evo”, saying that FIFA had taken 75% of all football game sales across Europe. Apparently it was “neck and neck with Modern Warfare 2  to be the best-selling game across Europe [in 2009]“.

While I’m sure as usual they have used some kind of manipulated data and figures to turn this to their advantage, it is quite clear that FIFA 10 was far more popular than PES 2010. Just from being around people who play games, the majority of people this time opted for FIFA (including me, previously a PES loyalist).

Definitely worrying news for Konami…

PES to “aggressively” incoporate Natal/Motion Wand

Konami have announced that they are looking into “very aggressively” incorporating the use of Xbox 360’s Project Natal and Playstation 3’s Motion Wand in future Pro Evolution Soccer releases. Whatever “very aggressively” means, maybe it’s what PES needs to win its yearly battle with FIFA.

PES producer Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka said, “Up until 2009 we believed all the platforms should have the same controls and features. That’s no longer the case, because there are specific controllers for different machines, what with Natal and the PlayStation motion sensor system.” He went on to say, “I cannot say much, but I can say we are looking at integrating those devices into our games very aggressively.”

Obviously Konami has already used motion sensor controls in PES 2008 and 2009 for the Wii, so incorporation of the Motion Wand will probably be similar to this. However, how PES will work with Natal is anyone’s guess! Running on the spot? Kicking into thin air? Slide tackling the floor?

According to a new post on the official Konami PES 2010 forum we should be seeing a demo for the latest installment of Fifa’s biggest rival.

Quote taken from the official blog:

Not long to go now until we release a demo for everyone to test. You’ll get a chance to see the new PES for yourselves and make up your minds about how we’ve reflected what the what fans want.

Personally I am looking forward to trying out the new features such as 360 degree dribbling and everything. Not that I need convincing, I mean who likes Fifa these days anyway? (I’m joking, obviously thousands of people love Fifa…but obviously they are fools because Pro Evo is better)
